Austin's 6 month visit

Austin went in today for his 6 month check-up. He weighs 20 lbs. 1 oz. which is in the 88th percentile and he's 27 inches long which is the 71st percentile. His head circumference measured in the 71st percentile as well. The doctor was very impressed by Austin's physical stature and said that he was pretty advanced for a 6 month old. (I knew I had a little smarty-pants!) He couldn't believe Austin was already sitting on his own so well, pushing up on all fours and putting syllables together and saying things like "ma-ma." He said we'd have a little crawler on our hands in no time!

The doctor answered my endless list of questions while Austin wiggled in my arms, wanting to get loose and check everything out in this new place. He smiled and flirted with all the nurses, tried several times to pull the doctor's hair and tore up all the paper on the exam table. He was being his usual happy-go-lucky self until the end of the visit when the 3rd and 4th shot went into his chubby little legs and he finally realized what was going on. He let out one of those silent screams where his mouth was wide open and his face was all red, but no sound was coming out. When the sound finally did come out it was one of the loudest, most pitiful cries I've heard yet, but the nurses quickly whisked him into my arms and after a few minutes of snuggles and rocking he was back to his happy self again. He even gave one of the nurses a big smile before she left the room which she said made her feel so much better about having to be the inflicter of pain. We were still very happy to leave knowing that there would be no more shots for three more months!!
